{"id":28501,"date":"2022-02-06T15:06:29","date_gmt":"2022-02-06T15:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjstudents.com\/?p=28501"},"modified":"2022-02-06T15:06:29","modified_gmt":"2022-02-06T15:06:29","slug":"boston-police-officer-found-dead-in-last-weekends-blizzard-set-to-be-laid-to-rest-boston-25-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjstudents.com\/index.php\/2022\/02\/06\/boston-police-officer-found-dead-in-last-weekends-blizzard-set-to-be-laid-to-rest-boston-25-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Boston Police officer found dead in last weekend\u2019s blizzard set to be laid to rest \u2013 Boston 25 News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-xb1qmn-0 dTyzpr body-paragraph\">BOSTON \u2014 Boston Police Officer John O\u2019Keefe will be laid to rest in his hometown of Braintree.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-xb1qmn-0 dTyzpr body-paragraph\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/cartwrightfuneral.com\/viewObit.php?id=5875\" rel=\"noopener\">According to his obituary<\/a>, O\u2019Keefe\u2019s family and friends are invited to St. Francis of Assisi Church on Washington Street for a wake Sunday followed by a funeral mass and burial Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-xb1qmn-0 dTyzpr body-paragraph\">\u201cA devoted son, brother, uncle, godfather, cousin, and friend, John will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to have known him,\u201d the obituary states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-xb1qmn-0 dTyzpr body-paragraph\">The obituary says O\u2019Keefe graduated from Braintree High School then went on to study at Northeastern University. He later earned a master\u2019s degree in criminal justice from the University of Massachusetts and served as a Boston Police officer for 16 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-xb1qmn-0 dTyzpr body-paragraph\">O\u2019Keefe adopted his niece and nephew after his sister died of a brain tumor in 2013, and her husband died of a heart attack a short time later. A <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/mm4xh-furbush-childrens-fund?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&amp;fbclid=IwAR1RlTIxXBvZHcYJdTz7RT4BuIxygk4VMm8EX9TTz-nOu--1nO-9nHFIfx8\" rel=\"noopener\">Go Fund Me Page for the children<\/a> has already raised more than $228,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-xb1qmn-0 dTyzpr body-paragraph\">O\u2019Keefe\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.boston25news.com\/news\/local\/high-bail-girlfriend-charged-with-manslaughter-death-off-duty-boston-police-officer\/LML5PWOBFVAB3P6SMKD7CINY64\/\" rel=\"noopener\">girlfriend Karen Read is charged<\/a> with his death. Investigators said O\u2019Keefe\u2019s body was found in a snowbank outside a Canton home early in the morning of Jan. 29. He had several injuries, including skull fractures and signs of hypothermia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-xb1qmn-0 dTyzpr body-paragraph\">Police said Read was dropping O\u2019Keefe off at a party around midnight after a night of drinking. When she turned her SUV around, she allegedly rammed into O\u2019Keefe before driving away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-xb1qmn-0 dTyzpr body-paragraph\">Read\u2019s attorney said she loved O\u2019Keefe and didn\u2019t realize she had hit him with her car. Read has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including manslaughter.
