(BRPOUD) \u2013 There was strong emotion from the family of Ronald Greene as they demanded accountability from Governor John Bel Edwards and Louisiana State Police for Greene\u2019s death and the subsequent investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brproud.com\/news\/ronald-greenes-family-naacp-national-bar-association-calling-for-accountability\/\">Baton Rouge Chapter of the NAACP and the National Bar Association joined the family<\/a>, calling on the governor to resign. Greene\u2019s mother, Mona Hardin, held her son\u2019s ashes to represent the tragedy her family has faced. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou wouldn\u2019t accept your child being put, cremated, and sent FedExed to you due to a murder. How in the hell do you think we are going to accept it?\u201d asked Hardin.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brproud.com\/news\/local-news\/watch-mother-of-ronald-greene-says-she-has-not-been-able-to-give-her-son-a-proper-burial\/?ipid=promo-link-block1\" class=\"promo-link__link\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\tWATCH: Mother of Ronald Greene says she has not been able to give her son a proper burial\t<\/a><br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>Nearly three years ago, Hardin got the worst call a mother can get.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeath by a car wreck, it was almost immediately after that that we saw it was a totally different story,\u201d Hardin said. <\/p>\n<p>Her tragedy turned into a nightmare when she discovered her son died while in the custody of the Louisiana State Police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose who had their hands on my son, who without care, you literally beat and tortured my son to death,\u201d Hardin said. \u201cI go back and I can\u2019t help but hear my son screaming, to know that my son knew he wasn\u2019t going to walk away, that was heavy on me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brproud.com\/louisiana-news\/governor-kept-mum-amid-conflicting-accounts-of-deadly-arrest\/\">Exposed text messages<\/a> have Greene\u2019s family and supporters pointing to a cover-up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sickened, I\u2019m disgusted with the governor,\u201d Hardin said. <\/p>\n<p>Now Greene\u2019s family is calling on him and others connected to his death to resign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe gig is up, the time is up, we are calling for justice now. With dismay that we are calling on the governor to resign,\u201d said Judge Carlos Moore, president of the National Bar Association.<\/p>\n<p>In response to an alleged cover-up, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brproud.com\/louisiana-news\/gov-edwards-to-discuss-investigation-into-ronald-greenes-death\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Edwards insisted in a news conference last week<\/a>, \u201cI have never told anyone, public or private, that Mr. Greene died in a car wreck.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The case is still under investigation by the Department of Justice.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brproud.com\/news\/your-local-election-hq\/gov-edwards-welcomes-any-and-all-legislative-oversight-in-ronald-greene-case\/?ipid=promo-link-block2\" class=\"promo-link__link\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\tGov. Edwards welcomes \u2018any and all legislative oversight\u2019 in Ronald Greene case\t<\/a><br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>Louisiana Speaker of the House Clay Schexnayder <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brproud.com\/news\/ap-top-headlines\/lawmakers-launch-all-levels-probe-into-ronald-greene-death\/\">announced the creation of a select committee<\/a> to review the handling, on all levels, of the Ronald Greene incident \u2014 including receiving testimony from various persons.<\/p>\n<p>Edwards responded saying he welcomes any legislative oversight and hopes this will be a productive, nonpartisan discussion of how to continue the ongoing reforms at Louisiana State Police.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>[ad_2]<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brproud.com\/news\/local-news\/ronald-greenes-family-demands-justice-from-louisiana-leaders\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[ad_1] BATON ROUGE, La.
