When it comes to helping others, the United Way of Greater New Bedford is certainly carrying its share of the load.<\/p>\n

Whether it’s providing healthy food to needy families, emergency housing for those arriving from Puerto Rico because of a devastating hurricane, or baby supplies for first-time mothers, the United Way is working to better the lives of people, and make their communities stronger.<\/p>\n

Victoria Grasela, the United Way’s Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement, stopped by\u00a0Townsquare Sunday<\/em> this week to discuss the criteria for Changemaker Grants and explain the application process. Applications are available on the United Way website<\/a> and the deadline is March 11, so you still have time to apply.<\/p>\n

Grasela said that Changemaker Grants are all about bringing together a small group of volunteers, identifying a community project that focuses on areas like health, education, financial stability, or basic needs. The project can be small in scale, but have the potential for long-term impact.<\/p>\n

Townsquare Sunday\u00a0<\/i>is an hour-long public affairs program heard every Sunday on 1420 WBSM. The program features non-profit organizations and individuals working to make Greater New Bedford a better place to live and work.<\/p>\n
