\n FAKE blood and a mannequine were used as part of a crime scene at a college in Bracknell.\n<\/p>\n
\n Bracknell and Wokingham College forensic students put their skills to the test when they were tasked with investigating a fake crime scene.\n<\/p>\n
\n The flat at the college on Church Road was turned into a\u00a0 mock murder scene.\n<\/p>\n
\n Students were given the scenario that a 26-year-old nurse, who lives on her own, was found dead by the police after neighbours found blood signs.\n<\/p>\n
\n Jaymie Miles is studying a Forensic Science Level 3 Extended Diploma at Bracknell and Wokingham College.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n She said: “Doing practical work helps me to understand the theory and put it into context. It makes it easier to process.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n “In the future, I would like to be a paramedic or forensic detective, so this exercise has helped me to be more confident and see how it relates to my career aspirations.”\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n Students were asked to examine, draw a sketch of and photograph the scene, make notes and take samples for evidence. \u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n The college also set up an\u00a0immersive suite, where students could learn how to interview\u00a0a pretend suspect and witnesses and took part in a court exercise, where they had to defend their interview.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n The students also analysed samples in one of the college’s science labs and produced an analysis report.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n This exercise helped to put students’ learning into practice and gave them an insight into what it\u2019s like to investigate a crime scene in real life.\n<\/p>\n
\n Sharon Rees, Law and Criminology Teacher at Activate Learning, said: \u201cThis was a great opportunity for the students to put their learning into practice. \u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cIt also gave them a glimpse of what it would be like in the future for them if they attend a crime scene, court or need to interview suspects and witnesses if they choose to pursue a career in Forensic Science.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
