A Turkish court<\/a>\u2019s decision on the suspension and transfer of trial regarding the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi<\/a> is in line with laws, Justice Minister Bekir Bozda\u011f<\/a> has said.<\/p>\n class=”cf”><\/p>\n \u201c[The court\u2019s ruling] does not mean that the case will be dismissed or the transfer of the jurisdiction,\u201d Bozda\u011f tweeted on April 15.<\/p>\n A court in Istanbul ruled on April 7 to suspend the trial in absentia of 26 Saudis accused in the gruesome killing of Khashoggi and for the case to be transferred to Saudi Arabia<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cSome politicians, even if they know very well [what the court\u2019s ruling means] distort the facts to make political gains,\u201d Bozda\u011f said.<\/p>\n Earlier this week, main opposition Republican People\u2019s Party (CHP) leader Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu criticized the court\u2019s decision to hand over the case to Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n \u201cThe murder was committed in Istanbul. Everything is clear,\u201d K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu said in a speech.<\/p>\n Khashoggi, a U.S. resident and Washington Post columnist, was killed on Oct. 2, 2018, at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul. He had gone into the consulate for an appointment to collect documents required for him to marry his Turkish fiancee, Hatice Cengiz.<\/p>\n class=”cf”><\/p>\n Khashoggi never emerged from the building. His remains have not been found.<\/p>\n
