Achievements, Leadership, Service, and Volunteerism. Winners of these awards exemplify the university\u2019s core values of faith, service and leadership in their classrooms and communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In recognition of the award presentation, each student may choose one book for purchase by Gardner-Webb\u2019s Dover Memorial Library. The book will be inscribed with the student\u2019s name and the date of the award presentation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Following are the winners from Cleveland County:<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"gnt_ar_b_h2\">Boiling Springs<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul\">\n<li class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul_li\">Matthew Steven Barger, who received a Master of Divinity degree, is one of the winners of the Daniel E. Goodman Review & Expositor Award given in memory of Daniel Goodman, former professor of New Testament, who passed away in January 2009. Presented to students who have excelled academically in their studies at the School of Divinity. Award recipients receive a one-year subscription to the academic journal, Review & Expositor.<\/li>\n<li class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul_li\">Thomas Manning, received a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, and was recognized with the Outstanding Male Graduate Award, which is nominated and voted on by the faculty.<\/li>\n<li class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul_li\">Mary Elysabeth Thompson, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude, was winner of the Excellence in Technical Theatre award.<\/li>\n<li class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul_li\">Micah Zehnder won the Art History Research Award, which is a monetary award presented to the student whose research results in a well-written paper that clearly presents an original idea in the field of art history.<\/li>\n<li class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul_li\">Matthew Waller is the winner of the Gerald and Sharon Keown Annual Hebrew Award given to the student who demonstrates mastery of Hebrew at the level the student has taken. The award includes a gift to encourage and assist the student in continued engagement with biblical Hebrew. The award is named in memory of Dr. Gerald Keown, Professor of Old Testament Interpretation from 1996 to his retirement in 2019, and his beloved wife Sharon.<\/li>\n<li class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul_li\">Erin White was the winner of the Gil Blackburn Excellence in Western Civilization Award, named for Blackburn, who served as professor of History and vice president and dean of Academic Affairs from 1968-2004.
