JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 A mother is pleading for answers after her son was killed this weekend on Jacksonville\u2019s eastside. <\/p>\n Family members identified the victim in Saturday morning\u2019s deadly shooting on West 5th street as Toby Gaines, Jr., 21. <\/p>\n \u201cI love all my kids but my son, Jesus Christ, y\u2019all took my boy,\u201d said Gaines\u2019 mother, Evett Davenport. \u201cPlease help me get justice for my son. Don\u2019t let this monster get away with this.\u201d<\/p>\n According to the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office, Gaines was found dead along the side of West 5th Street shortly after 7 a.m. on Saturday morning. <\/p>\n \u201cI want justice,\u201d Davenport said. \u201cPlease. I am begging anyone, someone [to come forward with information].\u201d<\/p>\n Davenport and Gaines\u2019 sister, also named Evett, shared stories of a son and loving brother who had dreams of becoming an astronomer.<\/p>\n \u201cHe can\u2019t even grow up and be who he had potential to be,\u201d Davenport said about her oldest son. <\/p>\n \u201cHe was smart, energetic, helpful,\u201d said Gaines\u2019 younger sister Evett Gaines. <\/p>\n Ad<\/span><\/p>\n Gaines\u2019 family says he leaves behind his father, mother, four siblings and a 4-month-old niece. <\/p>\n Investigators say Gaines was shot at least once.<\/p>\n \u201cThe state that he is in we can\u2019t see him,\u201d Evett Gaines said, telling News4JAX her brother was identified via fingerprints. \u201cBut he did not suffer.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt is very difficult to know that he was very handsome, and someone did this to him and took him away from me,\u201d Davenport said. \u201cI will never see my son again. I will never be called mommy by him again. Never. I will never have a grandchild from him like [my daughter] Evett. I am sad.\u201d<\/p>\n This family says it is desperate for answers for closure. <\/p>\n \u201cWhoever knows what happened to my son, please tell,\u201d Davenport said. \u201cPlease turn yourself in.
