{"id":33180,"date":"2022-06-26T20:42:43","date_gmt":"2022-06-26T20:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjstudents.com\/?p=33180"},"modified":"2022-06-26T20:42:43","modified_gmt":"2022-06-26T20:42:43","slug":"professional-booster-notches-100th-shoplifting-bust-and-is-released-without-bail-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjstudents.com\/index.php\/2022\/06\/26\/professional-booster-notches-100th-shoplifting-bust-and-is-released-without-bail-again\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Professional booster\u2019 notches 100th shoplifting bust \u2014 and is released without bail again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>A \u201cprofessional booster\u201d with an alleged penchant for shoplifting at Manhattan retailers <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/23\/professional-nyc-shoplifter-busted-for-the-99th-time\/\" rel=\"noopener\">notched what could be her 100th bust<\/a> over the weekend \u2014 and was released without bail yet again. <\/p>\n<p>Michelle McKelley, 42, was arrested late Saturday for allegedly pocketing $125 worth of goods from a CVS in Lower Manhattan, and then was freed under the state\u2019s soft-on-crime criminal justice reforms.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said in Manhattan Criminal Court Sunday that McKelley has failed to appear in court 27 times <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/05\/26\/professional-booster-shoplifted-from-same-ues-store-10-times-nypd\/\" rel=\"noopener\">on her multitude of past arrests<\/a> \u2014 and has five other pending cases.<\/p>\n<p>But the charges do not qualify for bail under the 2019 state reform, which means prosecutors could only ask that she be let go on supervised release while the case is pending.<\/p>\n<p>Manhattan Judge Charlotte Davidson agreed, noting the charges do not qualify for bail.<\/p>\n<p>McKelley, who described herself to cops as a \u201cprofessional booster,\u201d was last <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/06\/23\/professional-nyc-shoplifter-busted-for-the-99th-time\/\" rel=\"noopener\">cut loose Thursday after she was charged<\/a> with stealing from a Duane Reade in East Harlem.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Michelle_McKelley_Serial_shoplifter_6_26.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Michelle_McKelley_Serial_shoplifter_6_26.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Michelle McKelley\" class=\"wp-image-22812684\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Michelle_McKelley_Serial_shoplifter_6_26.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Michelle_McKelley_Serial_shoplifter_6_26.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Michelle_McKelley_Serial_shoplifter_6_26.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Michelle McKelley was last cut loose Thursday after she was charged with stealing from a Duane Reade in East Harlem.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Daniel William McKnight<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Last month, she was charged with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/05\/26\/professional-booster-shoplifted-from-same-ues-store-10-times-nypd\/amp\/\" rel=\"noopener\">robbing a Rite Aid at Second Avenue<\/a> and East 96th Street 10 times, with cops at that time reporting it was her 108th arrest.
