San Diego Pride<\/a> helps with connections year-round, providing direct services and grant funding for those in need in the LGBTQ community.<\/p>\n

Sometimes supporters gather in protest, noted Fernando Lopez, the local Pride organization\u2019s executive director \u2013 but also for victories and celebrations. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s just what they did Saturday, as tens of thousands of people joined in the return of the annual in-person Pride Parade<\/a> and Festival<\/a> in Hillcrest and Balboa Park.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m inspired by the thought of our community coming together again,\u201d Lopez said. \u201cTogether we will continue to pursue justice with joy.\u201d<\/p>\n

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria marched in the parade, which started at 10 a.m. from the Hillcrest Pride Flag on University Avenue. Gloria is the first openly LGBTQ person to be elected mayor of San Diego.<\/p>\n
