By MARY SELL, Alabama Daily News<\/strong><\/p>\n The head of Alabama\u2019s judicial branch was hospitalized earlier this week and is now at home.<\/p>\n \u201cI had a recent health matter that required hospitalization, but I am home and recovering well,\u201d Chief Justice Tom Parker told Alabama Daily News in a written response through his office.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI expect to continue working from home this week and to be back in the office next week,\u201d Parker, who will be 71 this month, said.<\/p>\n His office did not give details on why Parker was in the hospital.<\/p>\n Parker was first elected to the Alabama Supreme Court in 2004. He was elected to a six-year-term as chief justice in 2018.<\/p>\n Besides leading the state\u2019s highest court, the chief justice is the administrative head of Alabama\u2019s judicial system. The court can make rules about the administration and procedures in all courts, according to the court system\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
