Patsalos Obituary &#8211; Times Herald-Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<\/p>\n<div><span class=\"MuiSkeleton-root MuiSkeleton-text MuiSkeleton-pulse css-z7erpk\" style=\"width:480px;height:64px\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1 css-1vtkruo css-9l3uo3\">The world lost a man of honor, integrity, justice, spirituality and kindness when the Hon. Pano Z. Patsalos died on September 17, 2022 at the age of 93.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1 css-1vtkruo css-9l3uo3\">Pano was born on September 10, 1929 above the family owned Ice Cream Parlor which was located on the corner of Liberty Street and Benkard Avenue in the City of Newburgh, NY. \u00a0He was the sixth child and third son born to Zachary D. Patsalos and Constance Patsalos (nee Mingas). \u00a0Pano enjoyed a wonderful childhood in a neighborhood of large families. \u00a0His elementary education began when he walked to the Liberty Street School and continued on throughout the Newburgh School System where he was an excellent student. \u00a0After graduating from Newburgh Fee Academy (NFA), Class of 1947, he continued the pursuit of higher education and attended Seton Hall University. \u00a0Following his graduation from Seton Hall in 1952, Pano enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served during the Korean Conflict.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1 css-1vtkruo css-9l3uo3\">After serving his country, Pano discovered his passion for the study of law. \u00a0As a result, Pano attended the Cornell University School of Law and graduated with a Doctor of Law degree in 1957. \u00a0This commenced his long time professional career in the field of law. \u00a0Pano had the privilege of practicing in both the civil and criminal arenas to include private practice, as a prosecutor for the Orange County District Attorney\u2019s Office and City of Newburgh Assistant Corporation Counsel. \u00a0Pano advanced to judicial positions and after serving as Town Justice in the Town of Newburgh ultimately served as an Orange County Court Judge, where his judicial skills were demonstrated on a daily basis addressing countless criminal cases. \u00a0Judge Patsalos was admired and respected by his peers as well as attorneys representing both the State and defendants along with the entire legal community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1 css-1vtkruo css-9l3uo3\">In addition, Pano had the opportunity to serve as President of both Orange County Bar and City of Newburgh Bar Associations. \u00a0He was a member of the New York Magistrates Association.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1 css-1vtkruo css-9l3uo3\">He met his beloved wife June (nee Carry) in 1963. \u00a0They wed in 1966 and formed a bond that lasted for over 56 years. \u00a0Pano and June were a united, strong and loving team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1 css-1vtkruo css-9l3uo3\">Pano is survived by his wife at home; \u00a0stepson John (Jack) Clark and his wife Yoly; \u00a0granddaughters, Jessica (Julio), Kristin (John) and Chelsea; great-granddaughter Sophia,\u00a0along with many loving nieces and nephews who have fond and wonderful memories of times spent with Uncle Pano.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1 css-1vtkruo css-9l3uo3\">He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Athena Chumas, Mary Brundage, Dimi Walsh and brothers James and Theodore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1 css-1vtkruo css-9l3uo3\">Pano was a life long active member of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Pano was the last of a very strong loving family which will be remembered and emulated for generations to come.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1 css-1vtkruo css-9l3uo3\">Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 22 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.
