Image: Penguin Books<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Penguin Books\u2019 press catalogue for spring and summer of 2023 describes Parkinson\u2019s <em>Chicken Boy<\/em> as \u201ca charming portrait of life in the company of hens\u201d.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA personal and humorous memoir of Arthur\u2019s life amongst his hens, <em>Chicken Boy<\/em> is illustrated throughout his own characterful watercolours and candid photography of his \u2018ladies\u2019,\u201d it added.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an invitation to discover the joy that is only possible in the company of these intriguing creatures: Pekins are friendly, Lavender Leghorns aloof, while Burford Browns have a bad habit of feather-pecking.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p><em>Chicken Boy<\/em> will be available to purchase in April of this year and will span 256 pages.\n<\/p>\n<h2>The Criminology of Agriculture and Food<\/h2>\n<p><em>The Criminology of Agriculture and Food: (Routledge Studies in Rural Criminology), <\/em>by Joseph F. Donnermeyer, explores the criminological dimensions of food and agriculture.\n<\/p>\n<p>This book aims to offer \u201cmuch-needed synthesis\u201d of a wide literature of the criminology of food and agriculture, with WHSmith, a global book retailer, describing him as a \u201cpioneer of rural criminology\u201d.\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donnermeyer mentions and explores international topics such as:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Farm victimisation;<\/li>\n<li>Land theft;<\/li>\n<li>Bio-piracy;<\/li>\n<li>The abuse and trafficking of farmworkers and farm animals;<\/li>\n<li>and farmer involvement in organised and violent crime.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThis landmark book offers an important contribution in the development of the criminology of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.agriland.ie\/farming-news\/december-2022-saw-12-month-increase-in-food-producer-prices\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">food<\/a> and agriculture and sets out an international theoretical, research, and policy agenda for future scholarship,\u201d WHSmith\u2019s description of the book reads.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cIt is essential reading for green criminologists and rural criminologists and sociologists alike, as well as those engaged with rural studies and food science.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The book is currently available to preorder on the WHSmith website. It will be published, with pre-ordered copies arriving, on December 31, 2023.<\/p>\n<h2>Twelve Words for Moss<\/h2>\n<p><em>Twelve Words for Moss<\/em>, written by Elizabeth-Jane Burnett, will document the author\u2019s journey through wetlands from Somerset to Co.
