[ad_1]

CHAPEL HILL – Five Carolina student-athletes made the 2022 All-ACC Academic Team for softball, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Friday, with Tar Heels Skyler Brooks, Sara Jubas, Bri Stubbs, Destiny Middleton and Taylor Greene made the team. Carolina’s five selections are the most for the program since the 2016 season.

This is the second season in a row that Greene has earned All-ACC Academic Team honors, while Brooks, Jubas, Middleton and Stubbs are all first time honorees. Carolina’s five selections are the most for the program since the 2010 season.

Duke and Clemson led the league with eight student-athletes each on the academic team, followed by ACC regular-season champion Virginia Tech with six. Louisville, UNC and Virginia each placed five players on the team, while ACC Champion Florida State and Georgia Tech had four selections apiece. Syracuse had three honorees, followed by Boston College and NC State each with two.

Four members of the All-ACC Academic team were named NFCA All-Americans and 30 earned All-ACC distinction.

Duke’s Jameson Kavel has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
