Ketanji Brown Jackson Becomes Supreme Court Justice, Court Expected to Hear Significant Cases Next Term – Erie News Now

[ad_1]

Justice Jackson’s ceremony comes at a rocky moment for the Supreme Court. Not only are they dealing with an internal investigation over the leak of a draft decision on Roe v. Wade last month, but also their recent rulings striking down Roe, gun protections and recently an environmental case limiting the EPA’s powers on carbon emissions have ignited protests across the country. The Supreme Court has finished their term and will be on recess until October. When they start back up again, the new Justice will be facing significant cases, including cases involving religious freedom, independent legislature theory and affirmative action, which she may recuse herself from.
