Lecturer in Criminal Justice and Criminology

Paisley Campus

AC2 £38,592 to £46,047 per annum 

Full-time

Fixed Term: 12 months

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Criminal Justice to join the academic team within the School of Education and Social Sciences at the UWS Paisley Campus. 

You will be joining a growing team with a broad range of academic and professional practice.  As a lecturer you will be expected to make a broad contribution to the academic work of the Criminal Justice and Criminology team. 

It is essential you have knowledge of criminal justice and criminological theory, experience of teaching at an undergraduate level and have an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. 

Desirable candidates will have or will be working towards completing a PhD, and have teaching experience across the subject area of criminology and research methods. Our ideal candidate will have experience of using technology to enhance online learning and teaching, and have a broad and critical understanding of research methods and theoretical issues relevant to the teaching of Criminology. You will be able to evidence research experience and outputs (research or practice) commensurate with the stage of career and applicants.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Degree and relevant postgraduate/PhD qualification or near completion, or equivalent qualification 
  • Higher Education Fellowship or equivalent
  • Experience of learning, teaching and assessment within Higher Education 
  • Appropriate evidence of external engagement which is clearly in line with the School’s priority areas for the future (e.g. external engagement in terms of research, or knowledge exchange, or engagement with professional bodies or other external organisations)
  • Have experience of delivering modules across the social sciences, social/public policy or public administration, in the areas of interest mentioned above
  • Experience of hybrid delivery of learning and teaching and of use of authentic/real-world assessment approaches
  • Commitment to delivering high quality teaching and supporting an outstanding student experience.
