With the Louisiana Legislature convening its 2022 Regular Session on Monday, local legislators have a long list of bills filed to be considered.
Here is the list of bills authored by local state legislators.

Sen. Stewart Cathey (R-Sterlington)
- Senate Bill No. 29 – Health Care: Prohibits discrimination against healthcare professionals and provides for protection of healthcare professional credentials. Current status is pending on approval by Senate Health and Welfare Committee.
- Senate Bill No. 55 – Sunset Law: Re-creates the Department of Agriculture and Forestry. Current status is pending on Senate final passage. Scheduled for March 21.
- Senate Bill No. 60 – Substance Abuse: Provides for the screening of birth mothers to provide assistance with substance use treatment and other resources. Current status is pending on approval by Senate Health and Welfare Committee.

- Senate Bill No. 92 – Discrimination: Prohibits employers from discriminating against employees due to their medical history. Current status is pending on approval by Senator Labor and Industrial Relations.
- Senate Bill No. 93 – Legislation Powers and Functions: Designates the Gulf Fritillary as the official state butterfly. Current status is pending on approval by Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee.
- Senate Bill No. 100 – Drivers Education: Exempts certain visa holders from Louisiana driver education requirements. Current status is pending on approval by Senate Transportation, Highways, and Public Works Committee.
- Senate Bill No. 101 – Courts: Provides relative to the traffic violations bureau in certain city courts. Current status is pending on approval by Senate Judiciary A Committee.
- Senate Bill No. 113 – Pesticides and Herbicides: Provides relative to structural pest control operator’s licenses. Current status is pending on Senate final passage. Scheduled for March 21.
- Senate Bill No. 126 – Schools: Provides relative to funding for university lab schools. Current status is pending on Senate floor action. Scheduled for March 21.
- Senate Bill No. 139 – Ports, Harbors and Terminals: Prohibits any commercial vessel from entering Louisiana waters or ports if they are staffed with a Russian crew. Current status is pending on Senate Transportation, Highways, and Public Works Committee.
- Senate Bill No. 196 – Commercial Regulations: Prohibits the importation of crude oil and petroleum products from the Russian Federation into Louisiana. Current status is pending on Senate Commerce, Consumer and International Affairs Committee.
- Senate Bill No. 394 – Crime and Punishment: Provides relative to commutation of a prison sentence for good behavior. Current status is pending on approval by Senate Judiciary C Committee.

- Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 4 – Fees, Licenses and Permits: Repeals administrative licensing requirements relative to residential specialty classifications. Current status is pending on Senate Commerce, Consumer and International Affairs Committee.
- Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 6 – Postsecondary Education: Creates a task force to study and make recommendations relative to tenure policies of public postsecondary education institutions. Current status is pending on Senate Education Committee.
- Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 8 – Rural Development: Requests the Senate and House committees on agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, and rural development to meet and function as a joint committee to study and make recommendations regarding the appropriate level of support to further the missions, goals, and priorities of the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center and the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center. According to the Louisiana State Legislature’s website, Rep. Pat Moore (D-Monroe) and Rep. Julia Letlow (R-Rayville) have not authored bills during the current Legislative Session.
