WQCS spoke with Mary Ann Fuentes Monday, the victim’s eldest daughter from his first marriage. “So far, I wish we had a little bit more information. At the moment, (the police) are not releasing any information,” she said. “We have no leads as of yet, we don’t ourselves, children … what we don’t want is for our father to be just another name,” said May Ann. ” It’s been a very frustrating two weeks and some odd days.”

Mary Ann posted an appeal for help on her Facebook page where she wrote – “Daddy was shot “MULTIPLE” times by cowards that still remain on the run. I am pleading all of my Family, Friends and Public Community to assist us.”

Fuentes died from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. “He was gunned in the middle of his living room,” said Mary Ann. “My older brothers had to go to clean up, you know, you can only imagine the horrendous scene for them to see all of that and have to clean up their father’s bloodshed on the floor.”

Fuentes was born in El Salvador. He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran and still wore a knee brace and walked with a cane as a result of his war wounds. “He came to the United States in search of a new life. He was then drafted. He served from 66 to 68. He was defenseless, a disabled Vietnam Veteran, a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was well decorated.”

For a number of years Fuentes had been estranged from Mary Ann and his two sons from his first marriage. But Mary Ann says about a year and half ago they re-established communication and spoke to each other frequently. “Dad was the best Dad he could be. As you know war does things to people. But Dad he did no harm to nobody, he did no harm to nobody.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Fort Pierce Police Detective Dania Francois on her cell: (772)-979-1471 or send an email to – df*******@fp**.org.

If you wish to remain anonymous, call the Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-(800)-273-8477.
