Durant dedicated to serving citizens

[ad_1]

Much has been said about the problematic actions of Sheriff Wilz.

I share the community’s concerns about altered police reports, wasteful spending on legal fees to defend bad decisions, and the resulting harm to the community: more than 90 criminal cases dismissed, leaving victims in Waupaca County waiting for the justice they deserve.

But, as the former chief deputy of the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, and after serving the citizens of Waupaca County for 41 years with the sheriff’s office, I’m not voting against Sheriff Wilz, I’m voting for Cameron Durrant. I write to tell you why.

I’m voting for Durrant because he is experienced in the wide range of jobs the Sheriff’s Office performs. Durrant has spent his entire 26-year career with the sheriff’s office. He has served as a reserve officer, water patrol officer, jail booking officer, transport officer, patrol officer, special weapons and tactics, alternate team leader, and detective sergeant.

Durrant rose through the ranks of the sheriff’s office, gaining valuable experience and a solid understanding of the broad responsibilities of the Office.

I’m voting for Durrant because he is well educated. After graduating from Waupaca High School, Durrant obtained an associate’s degree in Police Science, a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management, and a master’s degree in Homeland Security. Durrant completed this education on his own time, and on his own dime.

I’m voting for Durrant because he is a proven teacher and leader. Utilizing his extensive education and experience, Durrant has served as field training officer, emergency vehicle operation and control instructor, tactical response instructor and evidence collection instructor.

Durrant has dedicated his entire career to serving the citizens of Waupaca County. Durrant’s comprehensive law enforcement experience, extensive law enforcement education, and proven ability to pass on his knowledge and experience to others make him the best candidate for the job.

I ask you to join me on Aug. 9 by voting for Cameron Durrant to be the Republican nominee for Waupaca County Sheriff.

Al Kraeger
Waupaca
